ABSTRACT
Nowadays, regardless of age group, financial knowledge and know-how are always an asset for people to be able to make better financial decisions. Due to the complexity and quantity of existing financial products that every citizen has to deal with on a daily basis, it is essential to understand them so that a healthier economy can exist, based on a society that is better informed and better able to make appropriate financial decisions. Only in this way will it be possible to minimise the appearance of future debts and situations of financial hardship associated with risks taken on excessively. As such, a better level of financial literacy among the population will lead to a more balanced and functional society and economy. Given the need to improve the financial knowledge of the general population, this paper presents the SimEmp- Financial Literacy web application, based on a gamification methodology and consisting of an educational virtual simulator, as a way of improving and developing knowledge related to financial literacy.
